Poor George Clooney was in my 'hood

WEEHAWKEN -- George Clooney suffered a broken rib and minor scrapes today when a car collided with the motorcycle he was riding along Boulevard East, the actor's spokesman and police officials said.

The 46-year-old actor was treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen and released, publicist Stan Rosenfield said.

"He's doing fine,'' Rosenfield said. ""He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal.''

Clooney's passenger, Sarah Larson, suffered a broken foot.

Clooney and his girlfriend were heading north along the scenic route of Boulevard East at about 3:30 p.m. when they were sideswiped by a motorist between Bonn Place and King Avenue, said Jeff Welz, co-director of North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue.

Clooney was treated at the North Bergen hospital after complaining of rib pain, Welz said.

The Weehawken Police Department was flooded with media calls tonight when Clooney's publicist released his statement.

News of the incident didn't get out sooner only because police responding to the scene had no idea Clooney was a Hollywood star.

Darn - you missed a chance to see George Clooney! Broken ribs DO hurt - especially when you have four broken ribs and a broken shoulder blade. I guess I should have expected that from a horse named Big Bucks Billy, huh?

oh wow! how dumb would you feel if you were the driver? oops! not only did i side-swipe a motorcycle, the driver was a famous actor, whose livelihood depends on his appearance.
